DHS Asset Assessment Tool
Description
Reduces users’ required time, effort, preexisting knowledge of which dataset has which information, and expertise with writing functional SQL.
Detailed example
Natural language processing outputs with descriptions of intermediate AI logic to accomplish cost-benefit asset assessments. When outputs include location specific information (i.e. which county an office is in or which facilities are in a given state), output include mapping of geospatial information to enhance spatial analysis and improve accuracy of decision-making.
AI / analytics pattern
Natural Language Processing: AI that processes, interprets, and shares information in human language.
Automation level / stage
a) Pre-deployment – The use case is in a development or acquisition status.
Expected benefit
One of DHS’s largest expenses is their people, their facilities and their assets. The value of the Asset Assessment tool is to improve the efficiency of DHS Property Manager’s analysis and planning process by expediting and automating today’s very manual assessment of facility placement and consolidation. The tool also provides enhanced views of information that were not available previously – like the prediction of facility cost over time for multiple facilities using actual utilization data inputs. The tools provides developer time and ultimately resource cost savings from removing manual SQL development steps from the analysis process. The tool ultimately reduces users’ required time, effort, preexisting knowledge of which dataset has which information, and expertise with writing functional SQL.
