Image Quality Control Tool
Description
Currently, patients submit images to My VA Images, then a provider reviews the images. If a patient submits a low quality image, they must await a response from the provider, who must then request that the patient submit another image. This causes unnecessary delays in patients receiving care regarding their dermatological conditions. If the image is low quality (blurry, too light, too dark, too far, too close, not centered, or distracting background), this model will prompt patients to submit another image immediately following their submission.
Detailed example
Patients will receive a notification in My VA Images if the image they submitted is low quality (blurry, too light, too dark, too far, too close, not centered, or distracting background).
AI / analytics pattern
Computer Vision: AI that processes and interprets visual data (e.g., images and videos).
Automation level / stage
a) Pre-deployment – The use case is in a development or acquisition status.
Expected benefit
Increased efficiency due to immediate review and qualification of images submitted to My VA Images, simplifying the process for both patients and providers. Improved relations with patients and lower patient frustration with the overall process due to the simplified process.
