Pension Optimization Initiative (POI)
Description
VBA’s POI is a transformative effort that seeks a Managed Services Provider (MSP) to convert an existing manual business process into automated processing of Pension, Dependency Indemnity Compensation (DIC), and Burial claims. This effort is focused on dramatically improving the Veteran Experience while significantly reducing costs. POI automation will process Pension, DIC, and Burial claims more quickly, consistently, and efficiently.

1) updated Veteran/Beneficiary files, 2) completed Pension, DIC, and Burial-related claim actions to include stop and start of awards (delivery of benefits), 3) Notification Letters to Claimants.
