Description
The NTIA Tiered EA AI Pilot leverages AI to streamline the initial drafting of the “Affected Environment” section in NTIA Tiered Environmental Assessment templates by integrating project-specific data and geospatial resources. The pilot aims to evaluate AI’s effectiveness in drafting content within the tiered EA; if successful, NTIA may expand the use case to provide eligible entities with pre-populated tiered EAs based on submitted information, rather than blank templates, to accelerate permitting. Benefits: 1. Efficiency: Automates a typically time-consuming, manual process, reducing turnaround time for drafting EAs. 2. Consistency and Standardization: By pre-populating sections with structured data and draft text, the AI helps ensure consistency across assessments and adherence to templates. 3. Reduced Burden on Entities: Utilizes information already submitted to NTIA, combined with federally available data, to minimize the effort required by entities in preparing the initial draft of a tiered EA.
