Natural Language Search for Legal Case Management
Description
The AI is intended to solve the problem of Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA) personnel having to craft complex searches and manually review large volumes of case documents in its OPLA Case Management System to find relevant information.
Detailed example
The outputs of the AI system include generated queries and the corresponding search results. Office of the Principal Legal Advisor personnel use these outputs to review documents and records relevant to their work. The AI does not make legal judgments or case decisions; it helps users find and organize relevant documents, and attorneys remain responsible for interpreting the information and applying the law.
AI / analytics pattern
Natural Language Processing: AI that processes, interprets, and shares information in human language.
Automation level / stage
a) Pre-deployment – The use case is in a development or acquisition status.
Expected benefit
The AI-enabled search capabilities will enable Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA) users to more efficiently search and extract relevant information from the OPLA Case Management System. This enhancement improves efficiency, saves time, and enables OPLA personnel to focus on higher-value tasks, ultimately supporting more effective case management.
